Overcome Unwanted Sexual Behaviors, Heal Relational Hurts & Live Into Your Full Potential.

About Me

Hey, I’m Christopher Hipp MA, LMHC.

I am a masters-level licensed mental health counselor in Washington State.

I started my counseling practice 2021, with the desire to help people who feel stuck in problematic behaviors and hindered in their ability to live into who they truly are.

I have worked as a therapist for multiple organizations over the past 9 years, primarily helping people find healing from addictive, compulsive, and problematic behaviors. I whole-heartedly believe in the power of counseling as a catalyst for holistic change and transformation.

Throughout my work as a counselor, I constantly learn from each client that I have worked with, and I continue to refine my approach through clinical experience and specialized trainings. I hope to meet you where you are at now & help you to overcome the barriers that are preventing you from sustained change.

Services

  • Is this your first time seeking out counseling? Are you unsure if counseling will work or if we will be a good fit? Do you have additional questions about counseling that you would like answers to?

If so, book a free consultation with me to get a feel for how we interact and have your questions answered.

  • Do you wonder if your sexual behaviors are problematic or addictive? Do you want more insight into why you engage in unwanted or compulsive sexual behaviors?

I can administer various screenings that will help you to better understand why you engage in certain sexual behaviors.

  • Have you tried to stop unwanted sexual behaviors and have been unable to do so on your own? Are you experiencing negative consequences as a result of engaging in problematic sexual behaviors and don’t know what to do next? Do you feel isolated and like you are living a double life of secrecy and shame?

If so, talking with a counselor may be exactly what you need to break the cycle, find direction and a path forward, and overcome shame and secrecy through engaging in a confidential, safe therapeutic relationship.

  • Do you want a therapist who doesn’t just listen but actually can offer practical strategies? Do you want tools and therapies that will help now, not long term therapy that you may need to wait years to see results?

If so, I can help. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to assisting people to overcome problematic sexual behaviors, so I draw from multiple therapies and strategies that will help you to start making change from the beginning of therapy.

My mission is to help you overcome sexual behavior problems and live a full, happy life that is congruent with your deepest values.

How I Help

I believe there is no one-size-fits-all to helping you, which is why I am trained in & offer multiple therapy options.

  • Person Centered Therapy

First & foremost, I consider myself a person centered therapist. My main focus is to prioritize what you want to talk about & collaboratively develop a plan to help you reach your goals.

  • Out of Control Sexual Behavior Model (OCSB)

The OCSB model is different from many of the other models of treating problematic sexual behavior or sexual addiction in that is is NOT AN ADDICTION/DISEASE BASED MODEL. For some, this may be quite relieving to hear because maybe you have struggled with the concept of being an addict or have struggled to address your sexual beahvior problems with an addiction focused/12-step process. That being said, this model sees OCSB as a sexual health problem, focusing on helping you to achieve SEXUAL HEALTH and reduce distress related to engagement in problematic sexual behaviors.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT has been found to be effective for treating compulsive pornography use. ACT can help you to reduce pornography viewing through increasing willingness and openness to experience urges, and encouraging value-driven behavior.

  • Christian Counseling for Problematic Sexual Behaviors

If you are looking to address your sexual behaviors problems through the lens of your faith, using spiritual disciplines and practices in order to achieve freedom from unwanted sexual behaviors, I can help you. I have experience in using multiple Christian therapeutic approaches, some of which are attachment based and others 12 step aligned.

  • Task-Model 12-Step Based Therapy

For those who identity with having sexual addiction, or who may be familiar with 12-step support groups (AA, SA, SAA), I can help guide you through a structured and comprehensive approach in order to help you build a foundation for sexual and relationship recovery that is 12-step aligned.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is one of the most researched therapies and is quite effective to help change behaviors and to identify and challenge cognitive distortions & core negative beliefs that may be contributing to unhealthy sexual behaviors.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a here and now approach that will help you to develop skills to increase mindfulness, improve relational effectiveness, and increase your ability to tolerate distress and uncomfortable emotions- all which can mitigate engagement in unwanted sexual behaviors.

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

Trauma may be a factor underlying and contributing to the development of problematic sexual behavior. If trauma is a significant part of your story and reason for coming to counseling, CPT is an evidenced-based, effective, and efficient therapy that can help address trauma/PTSD.

FAQ’s

  • YES! I am accepting new clients to meet via telehealth or in-person. Last updated on 4/15/24.

  • My standard rate is $160 for a 50 minute session.

  • I am an Out of Network provider (OON). This means you can use your insurance to help reduce the cost of the session fee. As a licensed counselor, most insurance companies will reimburse a significant portion of the session fee (40-80% on average), which helps to make counseling more affordable.

I encourage you to call your insurance company to inquire about their reimbursement rates (based on a % of the fee) for outpatient mental health counseling services provided by a LMHC in Washingtion State. Be sure to clairify if you need to meet your deductible before they will reimburse you. If you need to meet your deductible, your session fees for counseling should go towards meeting your deductible for the year.

  • If you cannot afford my standard rate, I offer a limited number of discounted sessions through my partnership with Open Path Psychotherapy Collective, using their reduced fee scale at $70 per session. Please read the Open Path FAQ’s to determine if you meet the eligibility requirements for the discounted fee, and to be informed of the 1x member fee to sign up. I am not accepting additional reduced fee clients at this time.

  • Billing is ran through the online client portal. Before your intake session, you will save your debit, credit, or health savings account details to your online portal and it will automatically charge your account at the time of your session.

If you are looking out of network insurance reimbursement to reduce the cost of the session fee, I can provide you with monthly Superbill to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

  • Please cancel your appointment through the client portal at least 24 hours before your session. This ensures that I have enough time to offer your appointment slot to another client. For late cancelations, you will be charged the full session fee.

  • Schedule a free consultation now through my online portal. To do so, click the ‘schedule button’ at either the top or bottom of this webpage and pick a time that works best for.

For all client inquiries, I do my best to respond back within 24 to 48 hours.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out today.
